We all know that chocolate is awesome, but lets keep that for the humans. Chocolate is not good for your pets, not even a bite. I know how tempting it is when you are sitting shoving a chocolate caramel bunny in your mouth and your pup or kitty is making big eyes at you, but don’t give in. The trick is to have one of their treats beside you and give them that. Its much better for them and you’ll be avoiding a possible vet bill or very sick pet.
If you have a cat, beware, the Easter Lily pollen is very dangerous for them. All they need to do is get it on their fur, clean themselves, and its possible they could go into kidney failure. Veterinarians say their calls increase for sick cats over Easter due to the fact that people are not aware of the danger of the Lily. So, I would advise anyone with a cat, do not get an Easter Lily. Those little curious four legged creatures are very curious and a new plant in the house could be the object of their curiosity.
Easter baskets are fun, filled with tempting treats, and that fake grass. Ingesting that grass can be seriously dangerous for your pets. Keep the baskets out of reach, or use an alternative to that fake grass. The plastic eggs are also tempting as they usually contain candy, or did at some point and have a delicious smell.
If your pet ingests something over the Easter holiday and you are not sure if poisonous or what you should do, you can call that ASPCA Poison Center Hotline at (888) 426-4435.
